We own and operate a state-of-the art, brand new run-of-river hydro power plant on the Bakhvis Tskali River in Ozurgeti Municipality, in the Guria region of western Georgia. With 9.8 MW installed capacity and annual power production of 41 GWh it provides year around energy, and we employ a 40+ person team of highly experienced hydro-energy specialists to run it.
Bakhvi 3 HPP was fully commissioned in 2015, and thanks to favorable weather conditions and sound operational techniques it generated 46.7GWh of electricity in 2016 (at 56% of load).
Bakhvi Hydro Power LLC (the Company) was established according to the Law of Georgia on Entrepreneurs on January 15, 2009 and is registered in Tbilisi. The Company was initially established following the Partnership Agreement between Rotterman Georgia LLC and Georgian Hydro Power LLC, for the objective of installing, launching and utilize jointly the Hydro Power Plant Bakhvi 3 on the River Bakhvis Tskali in Guria region, Georgia in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Georgia dated 14 May 2009 for the development, ownership and operation of the power plant.
In 2011 Silk Road Energy (formerly known as KG Energy) has fully taken over the Company, the project and has undertaken construction and commissioning of the Bakhvi HPP under the newly agreed term of the Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Georgia.
In late 2014 SRG has integrated its management systems and environment into renewable energy development and operation business through full acquisition of KG Energy, completion and commissioning of the Bakhvi HPP and renaming the company into Silk Road Energy.
Since 2019 Silk Road Energy’s team has been consolidated with Silk Energy Holding which has also replaced Silk Road Energy LLC in its shareholding of the Bakhvi company.
